I read on another forum the other day (or possibly an old thread on this one) a post about elk finding tips. As you can imagine, there were comments and input from about every angle, with some being helpful and others not so much. One comment I read was 'do the opposite of what the majority of...
1) What state(s) are you hunting this year?
- CO: Hunting Elk Mid Oct
- MT: Hunting Mule Deer end of Oct
- Home State MN: Hunting Whitetail
2) How many days are you hunting
- Both CO and MT are limited days for me either due to season length or just travel/vacation time. CO we will try to be...
This year will be my group's first time elk hunting. We will be out for Colorado's 1st Rifle season mid-Oct, but plan to arrive a couple days early for acclimation and some scouting. I have several hunt areas detailed into hunt plans as backup options, and within each area I have already...
I'd remain as still as possible while looking around for any cows that could bust me, and wait for the right moment to get to a better setup for a shot opportunity when he stands up. Follow up question...If you have the opportunity to move to a better position with the above stated wind, how...

I'm thinking of trying out a new broadheads this year for whitetail. I've been looking at the new Sevr mechanical and the QAD Exodus fixed swept. Does anyone have any experience with either, good or bad? How do they fly compared to field points?
Dang! That does sound like a blast. I'm going to CO for Elk 1st Rifle, then home in MN for a week, and back out west to MT for general deer. Best of luck to you!
I'm heading to Colorado this year for 1st rifle season with my friend and his Dad. This will be our first elk hunting experience. We're pretty excited, but definitely keeping our expectations low. Would've preferred to go for archery, but those guys only rifle hunt. I'll take what I can get!
