Where in your mouth does the call go?

I?m trying to get an idea of where on the roof of the mouth a call should go? Front 1/3? Middle? (Don?t see how it could go farther back than that). Appreciate the advice.

How do I know if I need to trim my calls?

I can make noises with my call, I have a green elk 101 call, but I see some folds in it, and I?m not sure how I would know if I need to trim it or not? Any insight is appreciated. Phil
