    Pre-season to In-season Scouting Questions

Spend time morning and evening glassing. Depending on where you’re at, bugling may not help much. Last year, the unit I was hunting, the bulls were still going at it 1st rifle.

A September to remember and how I am planning it.

River cruise starting in Lyon. My bride became a travel agent after she retired.

A September to remember and how I am planning it.

That would kick my OCD in high gear! For some reason I don’t feel I need to make a list, it’s in my head. A checklist would probably help. Leave for France on the 13th, back on the 28th. Leave for Colorado the 30th. OMG, time is running out!!!!

A September to remember and how I am planning it.

Leave for Colorado in 26 days, hunting in 29. Also getting antsy, been through the gear twice already, probably one more time. Taking 2 young guys with me this year, their first time. They just want to see elk, hopefully they get a close up view.

    Saskatchewan spring bear

Hunted with a new outfitter this spring outside of Hudson Bay, Into the Wilds. It’s Sheldon’s first year in business and all I can say is WOW. Saw more bears in the first couple of days than anywhere else I’ve hunted. Not small bears, big bears. Several well over 350#. If you’re looking for a...

    Broadheads

QAD is what’s tipping my arrows this fall in Colorado. I went with the full, depending on who you talk to at DNR, the swept can be considered barbed. Also, the full blades are easier to resharpen.

    Backcountry Mileage

Unit I hunt in Colorado, if you walk in 3 miles, you’re almost to the next road. Wyoming is a different story. Used to think that I’d worry about how to get it out once I got it down. That’s not the case anymore. I’d like to think with age comes wisdom. I still go back in the timber, I just...

    Scenario: What Do You Do?

I sit back, watch the wind a wait. Put together a plan to get 10-15 yards closer. A 50 yard shot is doable, but a 35 is better. I wait.

Does anyone want to see fish on here?

Nice fish! We hit the new pond behind the house a week ago. Catfish are growing like crazy, caught a couple 12”. They were 6” in April. Bluegill will be worth keeping next year and the bass are doing great too.

    2024 Elk plans?

Figured there should be at least one response. Headed to southern Colorado for elk season with a couple young guys. They’ve never been out west hunting, first elk hunt for both. They’re very excited and so am I. Passing on what I know is something I enjoy. Plus having a couple young backs to...
