1st Time Elk hunt, Montana

Hey all,
New to the forum but seems like a pretty good crowd on here. Wondering if anyone has any advice on area/regions to hunt in Montana. Right now I'm looking at Central montana around the castle mountains or south eastern montana aroudn Broadus.


Drew a General Big Game Combo so i'll be going after muley's as well.

Broadus has some great mule deer hunting if you can find some land to hunt them on.  Most of the good areas there are leased out to outfitters.  There are a few ranchers that participate in the Montana land access program, but you need to contact them ahead of time.

I'd head southwest for elk!

Thanks for the info kevinjohn. It sounds like right were going to start in the central part of the state for elk and see how that treats us. We'll be out there for a full two weeks so we'll have the option to move camp if we dont have much luck right off the bat.
