Just for the fun of it lets see if we can guess the following, from the list of hunters that post here:
If you know someone that is not registered and would like to participate, just inform them. They can be entered in AmericanBwana\'s contest too.

Who will get their first elk?
Who will get the quickest elk kill?
Who will get the weirdest looking elk?
Who will get their personal biggest elk?

I will guess Mtnmutt on the first, deertick on the second, cnelk on the third and bnsafe on the forth.

I am not offering any prizes for the most correct guesses, but if anyone wants to do that, I am already entered. :D

Swede
Interesting...
But you will need to re-submit #4 as \'easeup\' isnt a member here

I realize I just hit one of my senior moments. I was thinking about someone that does not have many elk so he would come up with a personal best. Thanks cnelk. I will edit.

Oh no pressure.

I would have chosen a couple other people for their first.

I failed to inform everyone that my hunting season may not entail as many hunting days this season. I may be moving twice this year. I am hopeful moving will not be in Aug or Sept, so I at least get 10-12 hunting days.

A bow hunter will have the advantage of getting the quickest in Colorado. Unless you mean the quickest in their season?

I have a new goal.

I need to hunt for a weird looking elk. And then kill it

Should be a task! :)

Sasqelk?

An eight foot bugling, two legged critter, with horns like a big horn sheep.

Sounds like the makings of a new reality show, \"Rocky Mountain oyster hunting\"\' tonights episode \"One if by sea, two to be seen\"

aaawww.... thanks for your vote of confidence! I cant wait to show my elk to you guys!

Hmmm .. We will see, Swede!

I may be able to be quickest ... I have access this year for rifle cows starting August 15, so it is possible.

If you meant \"quickest\" in terms of bang-flop, we\'ll then \"From Swede\'s lips to God\'s ears\" I say!

Okay you characters, so I really wasn\'t clear what I meant by quickest kill. You still should have known what I meant. :D I did not mean bang-flop. I did not mean archery hunters have an advantage. I did not mean Oregon hunters get a head start, even if I should have designed it that way. I meant earliest in the first season you hunt. If you choose to wait until the last day to start, well that is just too bad for you. LOL

P.S. Tick: If you make the prizes really good for the quickest kill guess, assuming you make the prize contingent on you getting the first elk, you will probably have a lot of prayer going out for you. Now if you make the prizes really great, someone will have one tied up for you just outside your camp and lead you to it. :D

Now I get it ...

How about this? I\'ll define \"quickest\" after the hunt.

I kind of doubt that I\'ll be on the earliest portion of the season, since I won\'t be hunting elk that day (chasing pronghorn, don\'t\'cha know?) but I sure am going to try to be like cnelk and shoot one while settling into camp if possible!

Your other picks are right-on, Swede.

Get ready for lots of elk steaks, Mtnmutt!

Who will get their first elk? - I\'m going with LarkBunting on this one. Not to discount anyone else, and I hope we have a bunch of firsts this year, but I like his passion and I also trust in the advice he has gotten on where to hunt.

Who will get the quickest elk kill? - Cnelk. It seems like it never takes Brad more than a day or two, so it\'s a safe bet.

Who will get the weirdest looking elk? - Still Hunter. This is a tough one though as we will have to convince Pete to actually take a pic for us. However, the fact that he mentioned potentially trying stand hunting means that Pete might be open to some changes. Why not try for this one as well!

Who will get their personal biggest elk? - Swede. We know there are some big ones around there and I feel like it\'s his turn.

I wouldn\'t put any money on me. I like to hunt for the whole hunt, and will turn down shots early in the hunt.

Tree stand? Not likely, but maybe some day i\'ll try a natural ground blind.

btw I\'ll only have a cow tag this year, and i\'ll also have a bear tag at the same time. So, i\'m not sure how it will work out? Something new for me to do together. My thoughts are to get an elk in my normal way, and then use the gut pile to sneak in on a bear. Not knowing one will be there. I\'ll call it still hunting. Sort of.

Anyway, good luck for those competing in this contest.

Mtnmutt: If you may have limited time to hunt this year, maybe you can really hunt smart. Don\'t tell anyone, but if I were you I think I would contact cnelk or someone that lives nearby, that knows tree stand hunting. I would see if you could get a good to excellent place for an evening, or other short hunts. Hey, I have a lot riding on you getting your first elk this year, so don\'t let me down. :)
