Hello elk 101, What better way to introduce myself to the elk 101 community than with a 15 minute archery elk hunting video? My names jeff and im from washington state and last year i drew a qulaity elk tag with 14 points, it was my first time ever chasging screaming bulls. I made many mistakes and was faced with an awful awful situation... A situation all of us hunters dread of... I wounded a bull on opening day and after several days of searching and doing my best to recover the animal ' if he even died' i decided to continue hunting knowing i did everything in my power to recover the bull. well without further ado here is my 2016 film i truly hope you all enjoy it.

Congratulations Jeff,


Great video, thanks for sharing. There is nothing more valuable then learning from mistakes and experience like this as a new hunter. It's difficult to prepare for the adrenaline at full draw when your face to face with a rutting bull elk. Except of course more encounter like this one. I can tell just from the narration you guys must have learned a lot in this short week. Not recovering a bull is difficult, the best thing to understand is knowing you did everything you could, analyzed all the details, and learned from your mistakes.


It reminds me, there are three questions I ask myself when mistakes occur:
1). What did I/we do wrong?
2). What can I/we do to prevent this from happening again?
3). what are all the options I/we could do differently?


It may sound basic to some but it has really help me from making the same mistakes twice.


A job well done none the less. As you know, the most valuable tool you possess when it come to elk hunting is your "knowledge" so keep up the learning. Thanks again for sharing Jeff!
