220 yard bow shot?

OK, the other day I succumbed to the lure of one of those elk hunting videos. On one of the hunts, they spotted a bull at 500 yds and set about closing ground to where the one guy says \"we need to get to at least 220 yards because that\'s (name) maximum range\". Now they managed to get much closer but really? A 220 yard bow shot? Are they joking, because no one was laughing. Hunt was in Arizona.

You could offer me money and I\'ll never take a shot at an animal over 50......

It drives me nuts when I see those videos. Or the people who \"kill\" animals from 1000m out.

I watched a kid kill an elk from 1100m away. They had about 20K worth of equipment and set up this insane gun, pointed it in the sky, and he shot.

That is a ridiculous distance. Iron sights on a rifle would be a slam dunk in comparison. Bows have no sights at all, even close to 200 yards.

That sounds a little crazy for a bow shot. Now the video Dan mentioned, if it\'s the same one I have seen, is crazy but at least believable. There are some guys out there who are more accurate at 1,000 yards with a rifle than most people are at 300.

I want to know what sights he was using because even if kinetic energy said yes to the shot....but every sight pin i know of would cover up a Volkswagen at 200 yards how could you hold on the vital......lol it has to be a joke.

Did he get the animal?

My arrow would hit the sight housing if I tried a shot like that.

Of course he got it, it was a hunting video! However, it was a much closer shot!
