I can't get over how fast time is moving... I love it!
Just 44 more days and I'll be in New Mexico chasing archery elk :D

My equipment is all set, I've been killing the gym and my workouts, my bow and I are dialed in very well. It's going to be a great year.

How many more days until you are all off chasing bulls?

Hey there. Thats exciting. My uncle lives in northwest NM and I am hoping to join him on an elk hunt there sometime. For me, 41 days until I can start to hunt archery bulls for the first time in Idaho. I have been in the gym frequently as well. I went out to scout a couple days ago, and fish a cool stream, found out Im not in mountain shape. So I am adding a weekly hike to the workout mix to be prepared. Good luck, have a great season!

Awesome! I have a bunch of family in UT. Is your hunt archery or rifle? What area are you hunting if you don't mind me asking.

It sounds like you have a neat little area picked out if you're able to not only elk hunt it, but fish it too. One thing I noticed when I first started out was you can train all day in the gym, but nothing beats throwing on a pack and hitting some trails. Like you, I like to incorporate a few hikes into my workout routine every week!

Thats a great tag!

My buddies and I drew (as a group) a LE type 9 archery tag in WY.  Even though we didnt know wbat state we'd be hunting at the time, the countdown for this hunt started the day we got back from CO last year!

Have a great time out there. Good luck!

I unfortunratly didn't draw my Missouri Breaks tag in Montana which I'm actually thankful for because of the almost 300,000 acre fire that swept across the area.

I usually hit opening weekend Sept 2 this year pretty hard to asses the situation in the mountains.  My brother and I are packing in for 5 days 4 nights. We are super stoked as we've found some primo location. Now it's just to dial in our camp area so as to be in the most effective spot to base those toads and drop one.  To be honest I think my wife counts down the days more than I do hahaha. She knows it's in my blood and won't leave, she's super supportive and just wants me in the mountains so I'll shut up about it and get it done!!!

Good luck to you and your brother on your hunt!
Looking forward to hearing how it went.  :D

103..... an eternity it seems like, seeing you guys with a few weeks to wait, but it will be well spent in preparation and training for four young men with cow tag! Couldn't be more excited to hit northern NM and watch my kids go to work!
