After packing out game

Looking to hear what everyone uses to clean off your pack after packing out game. I found regular Wilderness Wash Camp Soap (super concentrated) by "Sea To Summit" to do the trick.

Anything you guys use to keep the fabric and straps from hardening over time?

I gave the one I borrowed back to the guy reeking of bull elk and he said "awesome thanks" so I doubt that one will get a bath.

You gave back a borrowed pack stinking of bull elk and you don't that "awesome thanks" might be sarcastic? Who in their right mind would think that a pack reeking would be a good thing? We work our tails off to keep elk from smelling us and now the guys pack stinks. What the heck, not my problem. Glad you feel you did him a favor.

I haven't found the perfect solution yet, but I can tell you what NOT to do.....

I stick my full curl horn hunter pack in a washing machine and it tore some of the pockets up.

I had it on a delicate cycle, but it was still too much.

Since then I'll just take some wet paper towels and pat it down.

I use Dawn dish soap and a brush.  Scrub the bloody areas till they are clean and hose it off. Then hang on the clothesline to dry and air out. In the field Dawn and a stream.

Hmmmm, you don't know anything about it so pipedown. He is a good friend of mine and will probably borrow the pack again with no problems.

Regular dish soap, rub it in then hose it down.  After mostly dry, I rub it down with Chlorox wipes (no scent). Haven't noticed any fading after 5 years (kuiu pack)

Hi everyone!
You don't need detergents as long as you use plenty of COLD water on blood. I sometimes use Atsko Sport wash, sometimes just water. Grease will require use of detergent of your choice, just take care of blood spots first.
