Looking to try an archery muley hunt in Colorado. I live here in NM but haven\'t had much success yet. I\'m applying again this year but want to expand out a little more. Any suggestions on decent public land in Colorado?
 
All deer tags in CO are draw, but there are plenty of units that take 0 PP.

Thanks for that info. This year might not be the year for Colorado with hopefully getting a elk tag here in NM, antelope and maybe a mule deer tag as well. Not counting trips to Oklahoma. Just looking at starting to plan for next year.
 
I wish I could draw where you went whitetail hunting Brad.

Can you buy PP in CO like you can in other states or do you have to apply every year? Didn\'t see it in the regs.

You can buy just a preference point, but you need to apply for it. The codes should be in the regs. It is typically a preference point code that you use when applying, for example D-P-999-99-P.
 
Thanks for the info. I spent a little more time today reading the regs more in depth. I think it was around $40.00 for a PP.
 
Alan I have not put in for deer pp but I get a elk pp every year and have to pay for a cow tag to get it then they refund me the price of the cow tag. I buy a either sex elk tag when I head out to hunt.
 
Thanks Francis... Hopefully 3rd time will be the charm here in NM this year. I have had a few good encounters hunting but no success. While quail hunting this year I saw several good bucks that would make any hunter happy. I am hoping to get drawn for the unit and get one of these sandhill mulies.
 
You can\'t just buy the PP and apply it to that years license though. You have to wait till the next year.

I have 11 for deer now. Getting close to the points where I want to go..
 
why arent you NM guys hunting AZ?

over the counter. this last jan, i was commited to helping my brother take his first archery deer. he put in 2 mulie stalks a day!! i just held my bow and watched for the most part. it was exciting to watch.

next year, even-steven..we go back to taking turns. i\'ll be the good older brother and let him take the first crack at it..then my turn. i shoot my bow a billion times better than he does. hahah..

I thought we need to draw AZ units and that people spend years on drawing good units?
 
We\'ve got deer like this is every unit. What are your goals? Pick a few units and then post some questions. Most of us, especially on this sight, don\'t really covet our deer spots like we do our elk spots. Good luck!

All OTC. AZ is pretty generous to bow hunters. This past year I got busy and only had time to drop by a Walmart for my papers. I hate Walmart. Next time. Sportsmans warehouse.

Of course I forgot to buy my point. Two years in a row! I\'m a fool.
