Are these old rubs from a deer, elk or bear?

Note: In heavy snow years and bad winters, elk will eat aspen bark. This year, we had another high snow year and late Spring heavy mountain snows.

Brad may know more, but the pictures suggest teeth marks. I thought rubs were more smooth.
 
Those are not rubs.
Those are bite marks where elk have eaten the aspen during the winter months.

It may be a good area to look for sheds
