i burned my REI money on this tent.

seemed like a great idea at the time, when i picked it up at the store. even with the huge anti theft device attached to it, it was super light.

i NEED a super light tent for an august deer hunt. i hike into the sierras..

BUt this tent is only like 5 oz lighter than the UL2..it the slight weight penalty worth the extra real estate?

I got the Ul2 for the extra room. picked it up on Ebay used once by a guy and his girl. He said it was too small for 2 and was getting a bigger one. I am happy with it. I am not sure how much smaller the Ul1 is.

Cliff, if you ever plan on using it in any kind of bad weather I\'d recommend the UL2. It\'s just right to keep all my little things inside and accessable that I need to grab and go in the early AM, and I can leave my boots out under the rain fly. Very nice for one guy :)

Glad to read this, I just got an unused last year ul2 model instead of a six moon trekker single that I was leaning toward, hope the think the extra weight will be negligible per extra room. Only drawback I think is not having the trekking poles serve double duty

I think you\'ll like it Bob. I have used mine with two people as well...and with one guy it feels like the Taj Majal :D

Now, if you are in the market for a \"double duty trekking pole\"...

Double duty trekking pole, wonder where I could find one of them? Lol

It\'s on my long list, right now the short list is killing me.
