Went up scouting this weekend for the upcoming big game season. I was more than excited to get out after working on updating my mother-in-laws house over the last 6 months in order to sell it. I now have a bit of time to get outdoors now that that house is done.

Saw about 45 elk, but no deer (which is what I am primarily targeting this year). Oh, well, I guess that means I will need to head back up to the area again!

I used the Arcteryx knee caps ($60), and they worked great! If you need a pair of kneepads, I would recommend these. I wore them hiking up to and down the saddle (5 hours total), and they were so light and fit so well that I really didn\'t know they were there. My knees hurt when kneeling anymore, and these are looking like a great peice of gear for me.

Another peice of gear tested was the REI Trail Lite gaiters ($30) did their job in keeping out dirt, sticks, etc. while hiking.

I used my hunting partners Big Agnes Fly Creek 2 Tent. It had enough room for me to sleep and to put my pack and gear on the other side. If you had two people, only you and your partner would fit in the tent - not enough room in the tent for gear, nor any room in the vestibule for a large pack if you are backcountry hunting. The tent performed great, as I had rain starting at 6pm throughout the night and had no leaks and never had any condensation in this tent. It worked well for me.

I was able to fish a couple of hours and landed 6 cutts in the 10-13\" range and one that was 15\".

Nice pics Roman!

Do you happen to have a pic of the BA tent?

Also, what elevation were you at?

Brad, sorry - no pics of the tent. Here is a link to BA\'s website:

I was camped at 12,000 ft.
