Backpack hunt in the holy cross wilderness colorado

Looking for some help hunting the holy cross wilderness area. What I'm looking for is a good trail I can hike in a cple miles on and then leave. Hike a few more miles into remote wilderness set up a camp. Find some good undisturbed elk hunting. I'm young in top shape. I can backpack like a champ and have done it in colorado along with other remote locations around the world while I was in the army. There is nothing stopping me from getting out there away from the crowds I'm physically and mentally prepared. I just need some help finding a cple good starting points thanks.

Thanks for the info. That was pretty much spot on what I was looking for. I've gone scouting all over the southern end of this area but couldnt get away from the roads. Now with your help I can hit the north part and do some scouting. Thanks again.

Hey, Mark.  I'm hunting Holy Cross Wilderness in the muzzleloader season.  When will you be up there?

I decided to wait one more year before go there. I wasn't able to get a scouting trip in and hear that place is rough. So if like to scout it an find some elk before I'm running up and down every mountain till I find something.
