Hello...New here to this forum. Spent a lot of time on archerytalk before being told about this forum. Anyway... I am in the process of upgrading some of my equipment and my pack is one of them. I am looking between the slumberjack snare 2000 and the Badlands day pack. I\'m not planning on backpacking in and camping. I do however have a pack that can handle that. I\'m looking for a quality day pack that if I\'m lucky enough could throw a qtr in and get back to camp and get my frame to haul meat out on.

I use the Badlands Superday for all my hunting. Love it.
Its prob not the best pack for packing out a quarter elk, but it will.
The advantages of its primary use outweighs the quarter hauling part.

Im a not familiar with the Slumberjack

Here is a pic of a 1/2 WT deer tied on to my Superday and packing it out

Welcome vthokee!

Instead of the Bandlands Day, consider the Eberlestock X2. Great day pack and has a small external frame to help pack out quarters.

I own both and will choose the X2 before the Bandlands.

Thanks for the replies so far. Yeah eberlestock is another one I have considered. I\'m going to be checking them out at cabelas this weekend.

Welcome to the forum vthokee. I am hardly an expert on packs. I get one and keep it for years. I have it long after they are no longer in style. I have had great experience with my Badlands pack. It is about 10 years old now, so I can say it has held up well and fits.

I also have the Eberlestock X1 and it is better for what your are inquiring about.
It is a longer pack, fits better for a taller person.

Lets us know what you decide and your thoughts as you use it

I like the X2 as well, seems to fit me well. I\'m 5\'9\" if that helps. I hear they\'re not as comfortable for taller folks.

Razorback I\'m 5\'11 so the X2 should fit me ok. Cabelas has it on sale so I\'m going to look at it also. Should be a good day at cabelas new boots and possibly a new pack.

Welcome, Alan!

I had a Badlands Superday that I used for 3 years. Besides problems with seams splitting/ zippers, I really didn\'t like shooting with the pack on, too much weight up high on the shoulders. I use it for a workout pack nowadays with a lead brick in it.

I have a Trailblazer II from Crooked Horn that I am using now, it has a flap/pocket that folds down in the back that you can slip your bow in, or a front quarter if needed. All the weight stays low on back, so it is very comfortable to shoot with. Typically I walk around with about 25 to 30 pounds in it all day long. I have shot a 3D tournament while wearing it.

A very comfortable and durable day pack, and gets my first load out so I can get to my meat frame.

The pack I used last year was the Full Curl. It will be very tough to find another that tops it. You can get the pack with/without the bivy sack.

Well as luck would have it Cabelas didn\'t have either the badlands or eberlestock back packs in stock. They did however honor their policy and gave me store credit for a leaking pair of Cabelas Perfekt Hunter boots.

Decided to go with the Slumberjack pack. Here is a link to it:http://www.slumberjack.com/p-633-carbine-2500.aspx?category=packs
