Well, Wife and I were planning a camping trip tonight and tomorrow ... looks like we\'re going to get to do just that ... in our driveway.

See, yesterday we packed up the camper and decided to go to a movie, then leave this morning ...

But when we got back from the movie, we had about 1/2\" of water in half of our house. Plumbing issues. Spent most of the night with a shop-vac and bare feet, with the kind of helpful neighbors that we should all have. :help2:

This morning, the crew arrived for professional cleanout. We removed the laminate flooring from about half of our house, and they brought in the industrial fans and dehumidifiers ... it sounds like we\'re in a DC-10 with the windows down now.

So ... guess it\'s a good thing we had the camper loaded up! ;)

Should get down to freezing tonight ... and it sounds like we\'ll have fans and blowers going until at least mid-week, followed by a few weeks of insurance adjusters, contractors, etc.

There went June.

Big time.

I had some serious camping and riding and hiking planned over the next 3 weekends, and instead I\'m going to be stuck here talking to insurance guys and contractors.

We had just given our living room furniture to our boy for his first apartment ... and JUST moved in our new living room furniture ... only to shove it all in a corner and start ripping up flooring!

So ... I\'m going to the grocery to get a bottle of wine and a frozen pizza.

There\'s always a good side.

Like, for instance, that this happened in June instead of September.

I gotta remember things like that. If this took out elk season, I\'d be buying more than one bottle of wine!

Be sure to change out your furnace filter often if you use it to dry the house.
And if you do use it, be sure the insurance adjuster adds duct cleaning upon completion.

John, just let the insurance folks take care of it and head to the hills! I think you can turn this into an excuse to spend more time in the high country :D

I like that you can see that things could be worse. Do you have someone you can trust that can watch over the project? Maybe you can still get away for a few days or so.

Things could definitely be worse. We almost went camping early, but instead decided to see a movie that night. 3 hours of water in the house instead of two DAYS of water ...

And camping in the driveway has it\'s upsides ... electric hookups and \"free\" wireless internet!

Looks like we\'ll be enjoying the camper quite a bit this summer!

My father-in-law came home from a week vacation and as he opened the door to the house. He heard a ping like pop from the bathroom and then water trickling. The tank on the back of the toilet cracked and started to leak. A week long leak would have been a lot of damage. I turn the breaker off to my well if I am gone for a long time. You never know what might happen while you are away. However it could be few hours like your instance.
