Does anyone here shoot their bow or hunt with a ball cap on?

Does the hat interfere with the string at all?

Yes I wear a hat most of the time. I wear a boonie hat too. I have had no problems with the string hitting my hat. I have had problems squinting into the sun without my hat on. That is why I wear one most times.

always have a ball cap on and it doesn\'t hit or anything now my wife has problems with the bill hitting we ended up getting a military design cap for her they have a shorter bill than a typical ball cap so she hunts with it on.

Only hit if I have it pulled down blocking some sun. Other wise no problem.

Yep, ball cap here also with no problems.

Grab one, toss it on your head and to some target shooting. You wont even notice its there..

Outdoor Research Sun Runner Cap...looks like an french legionnaire hat in ballcap style. I use it in summer at the outdoor range because I hate sunscreen. The draping neck cover can interfere with my jaw anchor point, however, the cap\'s bill or tighten neck skirt does not interfere with the string. The adjustable neck skirt is removal.

I hate hats, but not as much as I hate sunscreen. The OR Sun Runner cap has helped me avoid sunscreen. My friends make fun of me in summer wearing the cap, long sleeves and long pants. I am too old to care what I look like. I despise sunscreen and don\'t like sunburn. My hatred for hats stems from hearing aid feedback and the hearing aid mic rubbing against a hat. Some hats are worse than others.

Note: each person\'s bow string at full draw has a different angle, plus each person\'s head is different. I have a very short ATA and dl (24\") which is a different angle than a person using the same bow with a longer dl, right? In my mind, I think this is all relative to the individual and their bow.

I\'ve never worn a ball cap in my life, but I want to get one for hunting.

So them interfering with my bow was the first thing I could think of!

Thank you all!

Predator used to make a short bill camo ball cap. Look around and I\'ll bet you can still find one somewhere. Never had any ballcap interfere with my string.

some of my hats hit/touch the string. i am not convinced it affects my accuracy or consistency. but it DOES mess with my mind game. it kinda ever-so-gently pushes the hat up off my head and i can feel the pressure diff..the string just kisses the edge of the brim. light.

sooo..i usually do one of two things.

i have a short brim cap that clears easily..OR i go gansta style and turn the cap a tiny bit to the right. i clear fine.

just want to add.

this is a new problem. came about because my bow has an Axle2Axle of 35\" and i have a 28\" DL..so the string angle is pretty shallow.

NONE of my other bows ever had this problem. my next bow will be a smidge shorter..33 or 34\" and that should be my sweet-spot..should work with my wardrobe.

If your worried about the bill hitting, check out a radar hat. (I believe it got that name from radar on the old MASH show) I used to only wear a stocking cap but once I seen a monster buck cruising and I tickled the rattling antlers and he turned to come to me but I lost him as the sun was in my eyes when he hung up. So ever since I\'ve worn a radar hat, has a short bill to block the sun and ear flaps if needed for cold.

Happy Hunting
