Hunting in North Central New Mexico, Oct 16-21.  I have a pr. of Danner Pronghorn 800 gm boots.  Is that too much boot for that time of the year?
Thanks,

IMO I am not a big fan of insulated boots unless I'm in a tree stand in December and I hunt Idaho. I use my Lows Tibet's uninsulated all year including snowmobiling in January and February with just a pair of wool socks. My recommendation is insulated with different sock options

I agree with Jmart78. I live and hunt in idaho and I always use uninsulated boots with a pair of wool socks. Seems to do the trick just fine. But with that being said everyone has their own preference and everyone handles cold differently.  Just make sure they are well broken in so you don't get blisters.

Since there are so many boot threads, I don't want to start another one.

Looking at some new boots before scouting season. To preference this I hunter Oregon Coast august September and Muledeer in Eastern/Central Oregon.
Heavey boots are not needed.

Anyone have expereience with the Nike SFB, UnderArmour SpeedFreeks/ Valsetz??

Thanks

Well I broke down and bought a pair of Kenetrek Mountain Extreme's. I caught them for 20% off so it was a deal I couldn't pass up.  I am very pleased so far.  Wore them around the house and to the store.  Stiffness is exactly what I was looking for. I like a little insulation so 400 g is ideal for me.  I can not wait to see how these perform this year, I got plenty of time to put some miles on them.

the uninsulated danners like previously stated is a great option good boot i also like the gunflint or elk tracker from  irish setter uninsulated

Hey guys I didn't want to start a new post. I am a new Elk hunter planning one trip. I will likely never go again because of financial reasons. My question is, I want a nice comfortable pair of boots, but the suggestions in here are really pricey. Can anyone suggest a pair for use on one hunt that will not be so high? Maybe $150.

like ol spot n stalk said,Cabelas brand is a fair boot i buy them sometime when the wallet is light. you can get a pair that will stand up to the Bitter roots which to me is the toughest elk country out there for lil over 100 make sure you break them in and they are comfortable
