whats everybody do for there string? There\'s so many products out there for string care, such as care packages with step by step process or just old fashion bow string wax every now and then. I just use the same bow wax I\'ve used for years, seems too work for me.

I do the same.
Old wax works fine, I too have the same wax Ive had for years.

I do use a strip of leather to rub [heat up] the wax once I put it on the string

finger friction.

i dont get caught up with WHAT i use..just that i use something.

i also go to great lengths to keep my bow from overheating unnatually. like i dont leave it in a car during warm days.

most of my string damage comes from actual hunting. (and me with a razor blade :()

Last year I shot daily and neglected to wax the string except but just a few times. I constantly had \"fuzzies\" coming out and would burn them off. I guess due to me shooting that much I neglected the obvious. How often is too much?

fingers for me also, as far as I know you can\'t do it too much. With in reason of course, common sense goes a long ways.

i was told the string should always feel slightly waxy. i just put on a tiny swipe and start rubbing with my fingers. it really works in.

if i plan on hunting in the rain, i do it if it needs it or not. might be all in my mind, but i imagine the wax waterproofs the strings somewhat, preventing a slow string..and a slow arrow.

dunno.

Come to think that\'s problem the only time it got waxed, when I knew it was going to rain. Oh well, it will be fresh on my mind for a while now since I just forked out to much $ for some pretty new ones

Yes, wax! You do need to apply wax to the entire string and cable, including the serving. A little leather can help you add friction and work the wax in to the serving, but fingertips is all I use on the string itself. The string should always have a slightly tacky feeling. If it feels slick or if it has those \'fuzzy\' ends, it\'s time to get the wax on it! The fuzz is from the string not having enough lubrication as it is pulled against itself. Wait too long and you\'ll have a strand break and then all kinds of bad stuff will happen.

I always wax the string before the bow goes back in the case. There\'s no such thing as too much wax.

Oops, I never waxed the parts with serving. I mistakenly thought that I just do the string.

Probably stupid questions...

Do you have to worry about wax for these things: serving at nock point or string/serving that rotates into the cams?

I was worried that wax buildup in the cams\' groove would be bad.

Will wax at the nock point cause the arrow to fall off at all while drawing? My nocks are snug unless they get cracked.

When I did wax my strings and cables I gotta lot of grit collecting on them, from that point on the few times I\'d wax it was only on the exposed string. Running a q-tip in the cam grooves produced some scary looking grit after hunting a while.

Maybe the wax was old or something?

IMO wax at the nock is not going to make your arrows fall off when you draw.

Don\'t worry about the grit - wax! Your string needs lubrication both under the serving, around the nock points, and along the exposed string. Wax buildup in the cam grooves won\'t hurt your bow or the string.
