BPS and Cabela\'s

Anyone heard about Bass Pro Shop buying or consolidating with Cabela\'s??????????? :dk: :dk:

I heard it a few months back. Never did like BPS. Their house brands just don\'t hold up to cabelas. Canelas customer service was always outstanding but I\'ve slowly seen that erode. They are still good though and get wayyyyy too much of my money.

ive heard it a couple mos back and there was a article in the local paper bout it when i lived by springfield but i didnt read it so not sure what it said. i dont buy much from either anymore as i think they are both crazy high on prices. but, cabelas has always been my go to store. even when i lived a few miles from the bps hq.

i like them both..mainly since i do not have either one of them in my area.

but i agree with the above BPS is limited in the type of hunting clothing i like..i like (but cant drop the coin) for sitka.the rest of the stuff is just so..duck and tree stand hunting-like.

and some of the advice i hear the bow techs handing out..sheesh..i once saw a guy adjust someone DRAW length by shortening up his wrist release. i grabbed my broadheads and left.

I have the opposite experience finding women\'s hunting clothes. Almost no selection at Cabela\'s, but I\'ve found great stuff at BassPro, much of it on clearance. Gander Mountain also has some good finds, and their in-house clothing brand has held up pretty well.

I stop at both when traveling to Denver. Heard the rumors about a merger, but nothing solid. Albuquerque is finally getting a Cabela\'s next year, but I\'ll still make a point to hit BassPro and Gander Mountain when I travel.

I know a lot of you are not from out west and maybe even the folks from out west can answer this... Have you heard of Mack\'s Prairie Wings or Roger\'s Sporting Goods???? They are both mostly waterfowl related but do have some other stuff too and sometimes have decent prices... I buy all my waterfowl shotgun shells from Roger\'s since they have been the cheapest and no sales tax with free shipping.... I think Mack\'s has finally decided that Roger\'s is cutting into their shotgun ammo business and now run some good deal on waterfowl ammo...

Phil, check out dunns too. Free shipping and no tax. They were my go to place back in the day. I also ordered from Rogers but they don\'t seem to be the cheapest option anymore.

I just looked at the one item I buy the most and Dunns has the same price as Roger\'s.... I normally get my stuff in 2 days if I order from Roger\'s... From where Dunns is located the shipping to me should be about the same.... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Wings supply had the item for $39.99 + $4.99 shipping and Field Supply has the exact same item for $32.75 + $3.99 shipping...

I always shop around. I like Ebay but they don\'t sell some things like ammo.

I too have heard that BPS may be acquiring Cabela`s. They own quite a few companies now, including Ranger Boats.
