Camp Trailer

I have a winter project that is just about done.
I wanted something that was a little more mobile than a wall tent.
Granted, there is nothing wrong with my wall tents, but if I wanted change locations or go on a scouting trip, they just werent practical to haul, set up, take down, move, set up, take down, go home.

So, I have a utility trailer. It measures about 6\'6\"x 10\'.
This hauls my atv and gear to elk camp each fall. But once I got to camp, I unhook and it just sat there.
I wanted something a bit more useful.

I went and picked up some lumber and started my \'mini\' toy hauler.

I built it so it fits just inside the frame of the trailer. I used the boards of the trailer for the floor.
I wanted it warm, so I insulated it with rigid foil insulation.
I wanted to be able to unload / load it easily, so I have trailer jacks on each side that I can lift and roll the camper on and off. I take them off once its loaded

I wanted the inside to be a bit more \'finished\', so I lined it with plywood

The double back doors are wide enough so I can load my ATV and haul gear - now covered!

Once I get to camp or a place to scout, I unload the ATV, set up cots and enjoy!
I have to build some shelves and such yet, but Im not too far away from it being finished.
The back ramp makes it nice to keep mud or snow out of the camper too

Looks good Brad! Warm, weatherproof, secure & portable. I put a rv led light in my cargo trailer. The lantern made enough noise I couldn\'t hear the elk serenading me. 3 of us are comfortable in my 6x14 although it\'s a real scramble if someone breaks wind!

I like it Brad! How did you set it up as far as heat goes? Propane? Is it ventilated as well then?

I will be using a Coleman Blackcat heater
The floor boards arent real tight so I have air supply there :)

Plus I will have a CO2 detector

Looks nice Brad. Are you going to cover the outside with something weather resistant?

I went to Home Depot and got some miss-matched paint - Not a big selection of colors, but I found some that worked for only $8/gal!

I also coated the roof with a white rubberized paint

I added eye-bolts on each side to secure it to the trailer too.

COOL :upthumb: You might want to consider a roof vent and a small window. It can get pretty hot during the early part of the season. That would help to air it out.

i tried one of those. it worked \"okay\" we had it in a big canvas tent. one thing, it went thru one of those green fuel bottles fast!! woke up to a frozen tent interior.

bare minimum, buy the hose adaptor that lets you use a big 20lb bottle. cost me $15 bucks at a hardware store. i use that same hose on my tabletop camp stove. fuel goes for days and days. i hate the litter those green bottles create.

a better heater is the Mr Buddy. we have the single burner. makes a difference between frozen toothpaste or cold slushy toothpaste. it just takes the edge off. with that hose, a 20lb bottle can do 8 nights.
