When you guys have a wet summer the elk I hunt are up high and scattered because there is grass everywhere. When its been a dry summer the elk have a morning/evening pattern to some private cropland. So, to those that are in that area, how wet has this summer been comparable to say the last five years or so. I know Stillhunter lives fairly close to where I hunt, so I am very interested in his observations. Thanks

I don\'t want to hijack your thread timberland. How is the north part of CO or North central?
Rainfall does make a huge difference from what I have seen on finding elk.

This year is the first year in a long time that the weather is a typical Colorado climate, pretty much statewide.
We had moisture over the winter, we had spring rains that lingered into summer.
The monsoons are now here that gives the daily moisture in the mountains

I expect to see no fire bans unless it really dries out fast, which it could if we get in a windy pattern.
I can say that this year is like I remember about 15-20 years ago.

I\'m in central Co. It rains everyday.

I know this, because I get wet everyday.

Thanks SH. This will help me formulate a game plan. Also, I get wet everyday also. (I take a shower :lolno: )

Sounds like some good conditions. I hope the monsoons are over by elk season. I like an evening sprinkle to wash old tracks away and keep it from being so dry and some cool weather is nice. Last year was WET.
