we are in the early plans of our summer trout fishing trip. we go way back into Sierras to find trout that rarely see people. we stay back there about 10 nights. i kinda think that is the limit for carrying food.

we go as soon as the trail thaw out from winter. usually late May around here. we plan early so the team can start exercising. this year, my brother asked if i had a one-man tent. haha..we usually bunk together and i carry the poles he carries the fabric. he wants to bring his girlfriend. i dig the lady. very fun, very great attitude. physically, she can do this easy. i think my brother is gonna hate carrying the bulk of the shared load. i dont know, maybe they can get a horse team to resupply them, or bring them out.

we have a pretty diverse and fun group. one guy is a stoner, one guy is an ultra miler ultra lightweight hiker..there\'s me and my brother the slow guys that like to stop and take pics..and wet a line occasionally before \"we get there\"..we are bonded by the love of TROUT. last time we hiked maybe 65 miles or so. some hills were soul sucking.

there is a lake up there above treeline that is 100% on trout. every single cast. it is stuffed full of trout. so many they are stunted in size. we never fish it because they bite on everything. it gets boring about 10 fish in.

i hope my friends are cool with my brother bringing a lady.

I have to walk on egg shells because we have some women on this site who hunt harder than I do!!!!

I have more often than not, seen situations like this not end well.
In fact, they have never been successful......

I plan bro trips to spend time with the bros.
The atmosphere will just be different. You can\'t talk about certain things, do certain things, it will be a constant filter......

Sometimes guys just need to get away and have man time.

I would agree with dan. not being sexist, its just I feel that dan is right. some trips are guy trips. now if everyone brought their other, it would be different....

So it sounds like 4 guys and 1 gal on a 10 day back country fishing trip. Hmmmm! Probably not the best idea in the world. :downthumb:

As a woman, I think it is a VERY bad idea. 10 days or 3 days, it does not matter.

I have lots of male friends and 3 older brothers.

Occasionally, I go on male outings with me as the only woman on the outing. However, it is only after they keep bugging me to go. They know I carry my own weight and I don\'t whine or complain. Plus, I have spent all my life around guys because of work and outside adventures.

As others mentioned, the guys won\'t feel comfortable having their normal conversations.

Some of your other friends may cancel if she goes.
