What is the best tactic during rifle season when you have found their bedding area, you can smell them, but have not spooked them yet? I don't want to push them out but do not see them yet.
Always think bedroom and kitchen and water.... if you find where they bed... look for south facing slope for food. Either find their travel path or hand out at the food source. Park your self at the meadow at dawn and dusk and you will see elk. Stay out of the bedroom because this is their safe haven. If you blow it at the food source they will return to the bedding area where they feel safe. If you blow it at the bedding area... they will find another one. I am learning to hunt smarter and not harder and I am having more elk encounters then ever.
