The post you started, \"I know a place...\" was bumped recently over ---> and I figured since you won\'t be able to see my posts over there I\'d start a thread here to keep you updated when the time comes.

So...

I\'ll update here when the time comes.

Let\'s hope practicing this:

That young man has good form, but he\'s about to shoot your garage door..
Ha! We actually shoot into the garage at targets. I figure we can shoot 19 yards...until I piss off a neighbor and they call the cops. :lolno:

Actually, I have some very understanding neighbors and haven\'t had an issue yet. It also teaches us to draw from a lowered position or straight back rather than from up in the air. I couldn\'t imagine launching an arrow over the house. :wtf:

I can relate to that. I can get 37 yds fence to fence in my back yard, but I used to slip over to the neighbors & could get 60 across both yards. My neighbor on the other side just happens to be the Pastor of the church we attend. I make him nervous, real nervous. I had been shooting one evening when he came out to mow his lawn. Respectfully, I put the bow away, then as a prank, took my rubber blunt tipped arrow & snuck to the fence. As he made his mowing round by the fence, I threw the arrow as a javelin & hit him in the azz. it was even better as his wife watched it from the back patio. She was on the ground laughing as he screamed like a little girl. Made enough of an impression that he brought it up in his message Sunday morning.

Yeah, I can imagine the neighbors behind suddenly becoming not so understanding.

I can shoot 40 one way in my yard, 60+ the other way.
Last year I even put up a hang-on tree stand on the power pole in the back yard to practice :)
A guys gotta do, what a guys gotta do... :)

About 10 years ago someone bought the field across from my house/range and wanted to turn it into a commercial property. In a quiet little neighborhood in the country on a gravel road that we maintain ourselves, no less. Everyone got a petition together and got the county to disallow his commercial building. So he built it anyway, directly across the little gravel lane from my yard and range instead of at the back of his 5 acre property. Total spite deal. County said too late, he just couldn\'t use it for commercial events. Which he does anyway. Screwed up my cell signal and totally blocked my view of the mountains in a lane called \"Mountain View Drive\".

Anyway, over the years I\'ve occasionally flinched an arrow over my two bales when shooting at max distance, which then sometimes bounced on the road and into his building. The first few I patched with caulking. Then I got so mad at him I didn\'t care anymore. One day his wife was wandering around and noticed a couple little holes. Counting the ones I\'d patched, there were nine in all, I think. Couldn\'t really tell they were there because they were so small and blended in with the other dark spots on the white wall. She called the sheriff and wanted to press FELONY Criminal Mischief charges. And she wanted me to replace the entire side of a giant metal building.

The sheriff advised me to talk to them to ask them to drop the charges. Otherwise he would have to charge me. She wouldn\'t even answer the door. I talked to the husband, manned-up and told him I\'d screwed up and would do whatever they wanted if they\'d drop the felony charges. He was good about it, said his son used to be a bowhunter, and said I could just patch the holes with caulking if I\'d put up some plywood on my fence when shooting to prevent it from happening again.

His wife went ballistic, wanted me in jail, wanted a new building. He calmed her down and told her there was no need for that for a few little holes.

Now I have a couple sheets of plywood up when I shoot, lousy cell service, no view of the mountains, but I can still own a weapon and hunt. He and I wave when we see each other. Three years later, the wife still won\'t look at me. Which is fine because she\'s still bitter and ugly.

I have done the power pole stand trick before. I have also been on the roof of the house.

Buglemaster, Thats funny. Good thing your Pastor has a sence of humor.

simple greatness. :)

hmmm. are you talking about me... good looking boy there. I wish you the best of luck this year!

I had to laugh at the comment about being a second year hunter with a lot of dumb questions. As a second year hunter, it is good to have a lot of questions and they are not dumb. It just shows you have seen enough, and are intelligent enough, to realize there is more to hunting elk than just walking out into the forest bugling and cow calling. If you have narrowed down your list of questions after ten years, you are doing well, but don\'t be surprised if your list doesn\'t actually get longer.

The list may get longer and actually the questions [and answers] get more difficult!
