Ok. My feet get cold. A lot.
Always have.
And they sweat.
Always have.

This morning as I was standing in a river bottom hunting WT deer, I had on my LaCrosse alpha burly 800grm boots with insulted socks inside.
After about an hour, the feet were so cold I could hardly stand it.
The temp was about 20 degrees.

I am to the point of considering some battery heated socks.

What do you cold weather hunters use or do to keep feet warm?

i have the exact same problem no matter what boots i wear brad. years ago i heard the battery powered socks wouldnt work long then break down. i never tried them an that may have changed, i dont know. however, i am very intrigued with the therma cell soles that are heated. i think that would be a great answer for me.

I have the same problem with my feet sweating. I use some thermax sock liners from cabelas. They are thin and made to wick sweat from your skin. Then I have a heavy pair that is designed to wick sweat and provide warmth. My boots are 1200 blizzard stalkers from rocky. I all ways buy boots for winter hunting when I will sitting for a long time at least a size bigger than I normally would. The morning I went out and it was 11 below out I put two pairs of heavy socks on and was able to sit on stand for around 2 1/2 hours before I started to feel the cold.

I get colder than most folks, I think. The above solutions are the most likely to be helpful.

Those Lacrosse boots of yours, though ... do they breathe at all?

Here\'s a tip from the Mountain Climbing community ... use Viagra. It does help. So do certain blood pressure medicines.

But, I tell you ... it\'s difficult for your physician to not laugh when you say you need some Cialis or Viagra to go deer hunting.

Uh-huh. Sure.

The only thing that really works for me is movement. I have to move. I\'m a lousy stand hunter. Heated socks are ok ... haven\'t tried the newer ones ... you know, the new ones at Cabela\'s that cost hundreds of dollars ... I\'m sure they might be a good idea, but I\'m going to stick with ... Oh, why would I tell you which of the options listed above work for me?

Someone mentioned um either here or another forum I frequent.... DryMax liner socks... They ain\'t wool but do work as advertised... I wear um with a pair of mid weight smartwool socks over um and La Crosse either 5mm or 3.5mm neoprene knee boots while deer huntin\' and they have worked for me this fall with temps down in the mid 20\'s...

A video to watch...

Here\'s where I got mine....

They really do keep my feet dry... Haven\'t tried um with my waders yet but expect they will work fine with um too...

hey john, can you have your office call in a script for me, to, uh, keep my feet warm.

I have sat for hours ice fishing or in a tree stand in temps well below zero. I wear a pair of merino wool honting socks that are about 70% merino wool and these.

This is a good price for them and free shipping but they don\'t have all sizes.

They are a bit heavy and not made for hiking mountains but a half mile or so to a tree stand is no problem.

:haha: :haha:

Brad, I know people have mentioned some of these options and, depending on what your planned use is, I would agree: getting the 1,000+ gram boots. I have a pair that is 1,200 I believe and they keep the feet nice and toasty. However, they are pretty heavy, so walking a long distance with them would not be fun. If you are only heading in a bit and plan to sit on a stand, they would be perfect. The difference between 800 grams and 1,200 grams is unbelievable...

It can get a little chilly around here. How does -53 sound to you? Just about everyone that spends a lot of time outdoors around here wears Mucks. When plowing snow @ around 0 degrees with my feet on the steel running boards of an unheated tractor for a couple of hours, I wear the Muck Artic boots with a good pair of Smartwool socks. Mush longer than that and it\'s time to go inside and warm up the old tootsies.

I just checked and the La Crosse boots I wear are Alpha Lite 3.5mm ankle boots and Alpha lite 5mm knee boots... They are light weight with no insulation other than the neporene...

Here is a good buy on socks. They are not the thick ones but great for fall elk hunting.

I ordered 3 two packs. They don\'t get much lower.

Been wearing the Lacrosse Ice Kings for years when I stand hunt...sit all day and never get cold feet, but everybody is different.

My son wears Baffin Polar Series and swears by them.

I bought my first pair of Lacross Ice Kings in 1990. I replaced the liners once and bought a spare pair of boots just in case I need them or they stop making them. They are still in the box.

For you guys that have a problem with your feet sweating a lot and then getting cold try this. I have heard that if you spray your feet with an arisol antipersperant your feet will not sweat. This helps them stay warm. I have not tried it. Maybe someone here has. It sounds like it would be worth a try.

My dad had a pair of these years ago and I remember them being warm.
And I finally remembered what they were called!

I may try them

Take several pairs of socks and/or liners. Change your socks 2-3 times a day if you are out all day. Change them before you start each setup, especially if your feet sweated during the trek in. People who have been in the Army gave me that tip. Dry fresh socks may be the key.

Avoid tying laces too tight on boots. Loosen the laces when you reach your destination. Our feet swell up as we hike which may cause the circulation to be diminished unless we loosen the laces on the footwear. I try on footwear at stores in the late afternoon and evening and never in the morning.

x2 on the Bunnyboots!

When I lived in Fairbanks I would work outside 8-10 hrs a day all winter long (-40 to -60deg ). I wore Bunnyboots and NEVER got cold feet. True, they are not very comfortable to walk in all day but not so bad...it was worth it to me to have warm feet.

Has anyone used the Cabela\'s Inferno 2000 Pac Boots with Dry Plus? I was thinking of getting some of these for ice fishing and possibly for snowshoeing. I have Abby Normal calves and can\'t fit into the neoprene/rubber Muck and Alpha type boots!

I\'ve always heard that the bunny boots are very warm, but like others have said, it sounds like they aren\'t the best to walk in. Sounds like they would be great for a tree stand.
