Colorado big game hunting in December or January?

I made the erroneous assumption that there would be plenty of leftover licenses I could grab to take my 16 old son hunting with...  I may just be out of luck, but wanted to check to see if there are options out there I am not seeing?  I would like to take him rifle hunting for elk, deer, pronghorn in December or January.  I am buying him a rifle for his 16 birthday and would really like to take him hunting with it!  Thanks all!

Leftover is pretty much all there is. Your other option would be OTC elk tags for east of I-25 (minimal public land) or finding private land to hunt with a voucher or leftover tag.

I kind of guessed that is what I am left with, but I appreciate the response.  I have never attempted an east of i-25 hunt, but seems like it would be a "needle in a haystack" kind of hunt.

I may poke around and see if I can find any private land options, but I am guessing they will be either rare or expensive.

Bad dad award for this years hunting I guess!

Nebraska still has LOTS of tags available - Some even go until Jan 15th, 2018

Reasonable priced youth tags too

Now that is not a bad idea at all.  Coincidentally I moved to Colorado from Nebraska.  Might be a good reason for a road trip.

Thanks for helping think outside the err...  "Colorado box"

Who doesn't like a corn fattened deer right?  All though I hear there is a good population of elk in western Nebraska too.
