I'm looking at an OTC archery elk hunt this year and thinking about unit 31.  Does anyone have some general information about the area?  I'll be coming from the KY and it is about a 20-21 hr drive, so e-scouting is about the only thing that I can do before hand.  I don't mind hiking, backpacking, camping into where I need to go.  Please reply or message me if you have any info.  Thanks

Now that I look at it, I had my statistics wrong.  I thought it had a higher success rate for archery; however, it looks about standard.  I'm open to researching any units.

First off, I wouldnt let the CPW statisticians work on my wheel barrow, let alone hunt elk by their stats

Second, go online and get a book called 'Public Land Elk Hunting' by Matt Dworak. He's a friend of mine.

Third, after reading his book I think you'll have a better understanding on what to look for in hunting OTC Colorado.

You have time to keep researching and ask more questions.

Hahahahahaha!!!!  :haha: :haha: :haha:

The book Brad recommended is a good one for sure. Continue to do a lot of research and ask a bunch of questions around here as there are a number of folks who can help. Unfortunately I've never hunted unit 31 before, so can't be much help there.

I know season has started but if you haven't seen anything yet you can shoot me an email and I'd love to help you find a bull! palmerteran@gmail.com
