A little late on this, but for those that haven't seen it, Colorado is increasing their resident tag prices on elk and other big game animals next year. There are a bunch of other increased costs for next year as well, including a bump from a $3 application fee to $7 for residents and $9 for non residents. In addition, Moose, Goat, and Sheep will now have a preference point fee of $50 for residents and $100 for non residents.

More on the fee changes can be found here:

They also have an FAQ section here:

Interesting info, Thanks for sharing.

Colorado began issuing a fishing license with the elk tag to non-residents. I have wondered why they do not offer the option of having the fishing license or small game license. I may not fish while elk hunting but may have opportunities to shoot a grouse or other small game.
Wish they would offer a choice since they cost the same for non-residents.

For the price of non-resident tags and the fact that they keep going up every year, it would be nice if they just made it generic to have small game included with the big game tag.

There is a proposal that a hunter must have at least a small game license the previous year or be charged an extra fee.

In the past an annual fishing license was sufficient.
