Wanting to get a taste of colorado wilderness. wont mind if i dont take a shot but would like to see or at least hear elk. dont really care to smell them! do elk bugle in mid novber? does it vary? im buying a cow elk tag and trying to go diy
Good % of elk harvested statistically. My friend went ahead and bought a tag so I'm going to have to hunt it to.
Can anyone local or near the aspen or frying pan area able to give me snow conditions and expected temps?
We are going to eitherbackpack in and set up a small tent and sleep inside bivysacks. Or sleep in a larger tent on cots if the conditions are to bad to "huff it". So how bad is the terrain, I've read that it's tuff. But that's not stopping me I'm just trying to expect the worst and mentally prepare.

Also,
Should I take snowshoes?
Am I going to see elk?
Will I see any if the 90 other or so hunters?
Should I have gone to Mexico?
Does anyone rent canvas tents and stoves?

Thanks,
Cpowell
