Colorado Unit 78 DIY 1st rifle

New to the site and excited to learn. Was fortunate enough to draw my first Colorado elk tag! Me and my father drew tags for 1st rifle unit 78, looking forward to spending the week on the mountain with my Dad! I was looking for any and all advice this Pa boy can get. We are planning on packing in on foot and tenting for the duration of the hunt. Already started rucking to get in shape ( lots of experience from the military on that one). Have a general area picked out have been burning up the topo and google earth. Again any and all tips are appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Never hunted 78, only 80 across the road. Be careful in the burnt over when the wind blows. You don't want to be a dead flatlander. Elevation can be a butt kicker. Some outfitters in the area if you need a pack out. Good people in South Fork.
