Anyone else running into an odd year for whitetail?

Last year at this time the high wasn\'t over 30.
This year my low is 55....

Today was humid as can be, windy, and hot.... then it turned to tornado time... I had to get out of dodge.
Tomorrow is 35+ winds with gusts to over 50 mph....

Cameras are showing mostly night time rut action and lots of my big boys are MIA. I am sure they are just out dogging does and will return post rut, but it\'s been a very SLOW year.

How about everyone else?

Yep. Been raining here. Supposed to be snow this time of year.

I know I\'m going to get grief for saying this but the rut started two weeks early this year up here. It was over by the start of rifle season this year and normally that is when it is just getting started. So all everything that I have heard about what starts or triggers the rut is just plain old BS. The bucks are males they will mate anytime a doe comes into heat. The action was early this year. I have talked to some of our good hunters in the area and they have all said the same thing.

Francis, I am almost thinking the same thing where I hunt.
I am not really seeing any daily activity, so I wouldn\'t even know haha

All of my morning and evening encounters are common encounters of deer in their regular routine.

The mule deer rut is in full force here in Colorado right now. I am seeing deer on a daily basis and the big boys have come out of hiding. Saw the biggest buck I\'ve ever seen the other day standing in a ditch on the side of the road. The steering wheel almost jerked out of my hand!

The weather around here for this time of the year, has not been good for deer hunting. Sixty degrees with pretty constant thirty mph winds. I have seen fewer large bucks so far than I can remember in quite a few years. The numbers are ok but the size is definitely lacking. I am really hoping the big ones show up before rifle season starts! It\'s really tough after that!
