Anyone have experience with the Danner Steadfast? I\'m looking at boots and saw these on sale at Cabela\'s 50% off $65. Don\'t figure you find Danner\'s on sale under $100 but would like some feedback. These are the 6\" model - never wore any other than a mid-top hiker so don\'t know if I\'ll like the taller upper. Definitely don\'t think I\'d like the 8\" uppers.

They\'ve also got the Danner Pronghorn 6\" I\'d like to try as I continue to see good reviews on them. But, they\'re not on sale and $180. Don\'t mind spending $180 but $65 sounds better! Then I can add other stuff to my list!!!

i had to return my Pronghorns. they leaked right at the get go.
the pair my brother bought right next to me..did okay. they lasted a couple of hard seasons.

i\'m a fan of Danner. but i feel there are TWO Danners companies. one that builds boots in the USA and one that doesn\'t. the look and feel of a USA boot is different. better. but sadly, they are way more expensive. i\'m not a USA only shopper. i feel that would be impossible, but my USA danners have been great. the imported Danners do look more modern. more inline with what is fashionable. sleek and fast looking.

having said that..those sub $70 boots look pretty awesome. what a deal!!

I have had 3 pairs of Danner boots. Two pair of USA that worked great. I am now using the Danner Ridgemaster GTX 400. They perform well. I even made it through the Colorado monsoons of 2013 with dry feet.

The 453 GTX did not work for me. I had hot spots on the heals and after a short time they split at the seams along the sole.

Russ, you can always return them if they don\'t work for you....  Try them and see how they fit and feel... Give them a test run and if they work for you go with them and if not use the return shipping label... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Oh. I try not to comment on fit. What blisters me could feel like walking on silk to you.

Our feet are unique.

Arky, I left out a small factor in my original post. I was hoping to try them on at the store for fit before buying but the closest store is 45 miles away so now figuring in fuel and couple hours time. Not that my time is worth much! :)

$5 shipping if I spend $99. Now to see what else I need for $35!

x2 Elky on fit. I get blisters on my heels if they don\'t have a kind of \'recess\' to hold the heel in place.

Just checked and ya\'ll know I\'m cheap...  Shipping on $65 is $10.95... So you pay them $35 more to save $5.95 in shipping... Just a thought... :D :D

You beat me to it Arky - was going to look up the costs and see. Will be ordering this morning.

Kind of like my wife a while back saying to stop at the grocery store before we go get gas because if she buys another $10 then will get .10 off a gallon of gas. Asked her how many gallons her car held. About 17. That\'s spending $10 to save $1.7. Was a quiet ride home! :)

Well, what\'ya know - at checkout Cabela\'s had another offer....free shipping on footwear over $49! YIPPEE!! \"Needed\" another Thermacell and on sale so added that and total shipping to my house $5.95. Beats 2 hours of driving!

Not that value shopping, Russ... :upthumb: :upthumb:

Well, the free shipping is going to cost me $7.50 to return them! &$#*@$@!!

Got the email confirmation at work they had been delivered so was excited. After dinner last night, I put on my smartwool socks and slide on both boots. Laced up good and snug then stood up. Took about 10 steps then back to chair and took off. 2 rub points on same part of both feet where the tongue folds up when laced.

Still ends up being a wash on $$ since I would\'ve paid that much in gas including the other shipping charge. But, I did save 2 hours of my time!

Will keep looking but won\'t mail order anymore - just hasn\'t ever worked out for me.

i ordered from Schnees. i called them and voiced my concerns. they put in a prepaid lable..just in case.

and i know exactly what that boot hotspot is..the tongue!! bummer.

I hate you have to pay the return shipping I thought they paid the return shipping too but it\'s been a long time since I ordered from Cabelas.. :downthumb: :downthumb:
