Bulls seem to be quite for the first couple weeks in my area. If i can not locate a bull this weekend i am going to set up and do some cold calling. Guys with experience using decoys id like to hear your input. I picked up a montana decoy this offseason, every elk is going to be different and every set up is going to be different however have you noticed a decoy in a cold calling situation to help or hinder for the most part? I am going to have to try if for my own curiosity, just like to know how this tactic has worked for some.

Seems for us it can be hit or miss.  One time it works great, the next as soon as the decoy is seen the bull does a 180 and heads for the next county.  One thing it seem more believable in some brush.  A nonmoving cow in the open tends to make bulls more nervous and weary.
