DeLorme AG-009871-201 inReach SE Two-Way Satellite Communicator with GPS

I too want to know, I have been holding off buying a spot and waiting to see these 2 way satellite communicator get better. About a year ago the cons were unreliable connection between the smart phone and the device, also it tends to eat up battery time on the smart phone while trying to get the 2 units to connect. Maybe they are getting better.

this thing looks kick ass but im a skeptic iv bn watching the spot as well for a couple years saw this and am curious

It seems Field & Stream did a fairly comprehensive field test. i would like to know if hunt maps can be down loaded to it still or if its just for garmin.  but here is the link to there artical on it.

one last update looks like hunt maps doesnt go with this unit but if you can download it to your computer first you might be able to transfer it to it via its maps application you can down load maps from google earth n such suposedly

I used the delorme last season deep in the Adirondaks New York deer hunting.
It worked great for what it is. I used it for texting.
Reception was fine. Bluetooth worked well.
It just takes a while texting thru satelites.
I was able to do what i needed to do to keep intouch with my business while away.
