Delorme SE review

On another hunting forum I answered a bunch of questions through Pm on this unit so I figured I would do a quick review.

Pros:
-Amazing battery life. I turned it on when I need it and after a 5 day hunt I still had 78% battery life
-Ability to do a monthly fee during hunting season and not pay all year while it sits in a drawer.
-Preset messages. You can create 3 before leaving and send them free of charge as long as you have the 35/month or higher plan.
-Peace of mind...my wife not only receives a message through text or email there is also a precise location on a map that she can track and know exactly where I am.
-Great service everywhere I have been including thick timber. Sometimes it takes up to 7-8 minutes to get out a signal but I haven\'t had any issues yet
-If you download the app and sync your phone you can use it as a GPS (backup for me just in case) and it\'s a lot easier to type messages. Also if your GPS doesn\'t have a mapping card it has a topo map.

Cons:
-nothing, it is one of the best investments I have made, especially since there is no way the wife would have let me hunt solo without it!

I agree with Ucs. That was the experience with mine.
The one kick I will give them is that, it is a hassle to get through to them to shut off the unit. I subscribed for two months only. That should have been enough. Just like a magazine subscription, when the time is up they quit sending magazines. That is not how it works with Delorme. You have to contact them, or go through your computer to get it shut off or they continue to bill your credit card.
I called the last day of the current billing period. They were set to bill me for the next month unless I had called and got through to them. Only then did they back out of the next month\'s automatic billing. Still it is a great unit. Service could be better.
