I'm in the process of planning a DIY elk bowhunt for GMU 78, although not certain of the area just yet.  Just looking to see if anyone would be interested in going along from Sept. 14-26.  This will be my second time out west hunting and looking for someone to join in andget after some elk.  It's tough doing the solo trip as I found out on my first trip.  Thanks.

Bryan,

I have been talking with a gentleman from Ohio, we're planning as I write this.  Last year was tough.  The elevation got me real bad.  Lots of lessons learned, mainly I got humbled and my ass kicked.  First timers have no clue how tough this country is.

Hope it works out and good luck! You hit the nail on the head...there's being in shape and then there's being in elk shape! KY isn't all that far from WI.

Did you get any responses? I live in CO and also looking for a partner.

I am a clueless newbie. And I am planning on trying that unit too. Looking around Buckles lake/Vrock area. I am going solo, so far. How bad is it LOL?

elk hunting philosophy 101 Its always tougher than it looks and when you think your ready your just beginning lol train hard when you feel good train harder. ask lots of questions, light gear, know your gear inside and out, once your limits have been reached go farther.
