So I have 5 of these hang on stands. And I have a couple sets of climbing sticks.
They work good for what I use them for

I unbolted the seat and cables and took some measurements.
My intent was to build a frame that bolts on and off and is collapsible.

I cut some metal tube and welded and drilled holes.
I made the upright strap guides so they would lay flat

I use some 2in nylon strapping and fed it thru some clear tubing.
The tubing is for sound as you go up and down the tree.
The eye bolts are so the stand can be adjusted to different size tree.

I\'m not quite done yet.
I will put a bolt thru the seat attachment and another strap will connect the bottom to the new seat/hand climber (to be built yet) to
keep them connected.

So far I have about $25 in materials in it

You think you might want some \"teeth\" on that thing, to grab the tree?

Just some 1/4\" bolts sticking through about 1/2\" would do it.

I agree with John, some teeth would be a way to go.

My lone wolf climber has teeth and it\'s a life saver. Both for climbing and getting a good, seated grip

Yep. Teeth are one of remaining details.
And some foot grips
I figure to pattern the seat / hand part about the same width dimensions

Years ago, I had a couple Baker climbing stands and they left me up the tree more than once.
Those are vivid memories that I will not have again

Here is where I got the idea for the tilting upright connections.
I just added the framework to an existing stand

Brad, that looks pretty sweet - nice work!

Looks like you still need to make the \"foot holds\" for climbing/descending. In the video it looks like his are made out of cord/rope run through clear plastic tubing as well?
