I drove from NM to FL last week.
Before I left, I grabbed my meat from the butcher, threw them in a cooler, and hit the road.

Once I hit Louisiana it was getting late so I filled up, topped off ice, and decided to push a little more before sleeping.
100 miles later I pull over to sleep......... missing a cooler.....    ............
My cooler that had all my elk backstops and tenderloins was MIA.....

I can\'t for the life of me figure out what happened, but it wasn\'t stolen.
I\'m guessing I either A) left it at the gas station after I topped it off or B) I left it on top of another cooler instead of placing it on the truck bed floor. So when I drove off the cooler must have slid off..... :x :x :x :x :x :x :x

I am not pleased at all!!!!!! The ONLY positive from this is that it wasn\'t one of my new coolers. Both of my new coolers each had 65lbs of ground....so that would have been BAD!!!!

So now Im on a whitetail mission because I have nothing, but ground in my freezer!
Anyways.... SLEEP! You get loopy and do dumb things!

Now that\'s a bummer. :downthumb:

Look out whitetails Dans on a mission now. :mg:

I\'ll bring the elk steaks next spring Dan. You bring the burger. :upthumb:

I REALLY hope this is true. The meat was still cold, so I really hope someone found it and ate it. :upthumb:

Maybe you need to slow down and think about things a little. I think I remember your first move to Florida resulted in a few problems too.

I am glad you didn\'t lose it all!

Deer steaks are tasty too! Now you have an incentive to do more deer hunting. Don\'t be so picky this year! Good luck.

That sux, Dan. But I can totally see myself doing it, as a matter of fact...

I retrieved my steaks/burger from the processor a few weeks back (he said he was short on boxes, so I just put it all in black trash bags when I picked it up, and put it in the trunk of my Honda).

A week later, my Son and I get in the car on a nice cool Morning to head to work/ school, and our noses were assaulted by a very putrid stench. Looked around the car, no rotting food, so we drove to Town.

That evening, I\'m at the Grocery store with my Wife, open the trunk...Voila! A rogue package of elk round steaks that had been rotting in the trunk for a week!

Car smells better now :upthumb:

I know Cajuns all so well... If they found it, it will be eaten... They\'ll make some thing out of even if it\'s gator bait... Nothing goes to waste in there part of the world...

Some coyote is probably running around real happy right now with a fresh backstrap in his mouth.......

When I first read the thread I was fearing the worst.... Sleepy = crashing.....
