Well the weather is getting nicer, tags are applied for, and the new calls are arriving in the mail.

I guess it\'s time to start planning some of the details for this season.

First on my agenda (After getting in shape, and picking a new spot), is working on my packing list.

I\'m moving from a base camp to one that is more mobile. No not Bivy, but pack in about 3 or 4 miles, then setup a base camp to work from.

Here is my initial list. What should I add or remove?

Oh, and does anyone know how long the 220g butane bottles last? I\'d like to take some mac & cheese, and other stuff that may take a few minutes to cook.

You forgot the big 4. Food, Water, Fire Kit, and a Sleeping Bag. Gonna be a cold hungry night. :haha: :haha: But I\'ll give you credit, you remembered the TP :tease: :tease: :tease:

Three questions?
why 2 releases? you have one break in the past?

Butt bucket?

Not to speak for him, but I know that I use hand held releases and have lost more than 1 in the past. Always pack extra. Not gonna make for a good trip if you get your camp set up and your hunt comes to an end because you lost or broke your release.

I always keep a spare release in the bag. Had to use it once.

The butt bucket is an attachment for my blue widow pack.

And yes there are skeeters in CO.

Do you know where your spike camp is going to be located?
Would it possible to do a \'drop\' of certain items before season?

Thats what Im going to do

Pretty good idea. It\'s that area we talked about.

That\'s a great idea Dana! Several years ago we took a load of canned goods in 6 miles up on the flat tops in early August. Elk EVERYWHERE! Went back in to find 3000 head of bawlin squalling sheep, 3 herders complete with barking nasty dis positioned dogs. All elk in the area had moved down to private ground right off the county road. :x Hope your adventure turns out better. 3 of us took 4 of our young sons in with all carrying groceries to stash. Hunting sucked, but we ate well.

Sheep, the 5 letter 4 letter word.

Yea there are about three herds of them up between deep lake and Baxter mountain. Flipping insane. Not only the sheep, but the coyote canons some fire off at night.

That\'s why I have a plan B area about 25 miles to the south east.
