Elk down in 2012

This is my 2012 Colorado 6x6 DIY public land. Hunted the area for 3 years with a bow, but drew a muzzleloading tag this year.

It drives me crazy how Colorado runs their seasons, putting the muzzleloader season right in the middle of the archery season.  We have great luck the first couple weeks but we have had a hard time finding bulls that are responsive that last week after being run around during the muzzleloader season.


I heard rumors that they may be changing that though so the seasons don't run at the same time

I think, Colorado is going to run the muzzleloading season during the last week of archery in 2013. It still overlaps, but the last week.
If they ran a week of muzzleloading only after archery, I would bet the peak of the rut would be that week, so I guess I am glad they happen together???

NC - The muzzy elk season goes thru Sept 22nd whereas archery goes thru the 29th which is what it normally does.  Archers typically have a week after the muzzy season.
