You guys know elk, so tell me, can you name four classes of forage mature elk use?
I.e. fruit, vegetables, fish and dairy, not bananas, carrots, beef, and donuts.

Grasses, berries, forbs, and everybody\'s garden in town.

Fish and dairy?? Momma\'s milk?

Im not sure of the names, but I guessing that it takes lots of pounds of feed per day!

Not sure -- anyone know if they use that whortleberry stuff that seems to cover the floor in mature stands of pine?

----
EDIT: OK, after reading Brad\'s other thread, I should\'ve figured sedges would be on the list. My horses prefer sedges over about anything, and in the high country you\'d swear they couldn\'t lift their heads when standing in that stuff.

Spanish moss? Pine bark?
Rapid Rails?! (The elk around my stand licked the rapid rail climbers & left little slobber goobers on them.)

From the text of The Elk of North America pg. 128 the Official answer is Grasses, Forbs, browse and bark. In my area I see more use of mushrooms than bark, but I suspect that is candy to them.
