Here is the recipe for home made scent eliminator. It works just as well as any of the store bought stuff and cost about $2 bucks or so for a whole half gallon.
1 quart of hydrogen peroxide
1 cup of baking soda.
1 quart of distilled water. ( I have also made it with tap water)
1 tsp. of unscented liquid dish soap
Save the peroxide bottle as you will need it later
Mix the ingredients in a large glass bowl, stirring it until all the baking is totally desolved and let set over night to let the chemical reaction work. The next day place it in a clean plastic milk jug . You may notice that gasses build up in the jug so you may need to loosen the cap to release the pressure. Check for this about twice a day. Once all signs of reaction are gone you can go ahead and seal it up and store it in a dark place.
When you get ready to us it, pour what you need in the used (brown) peroxide bottle and screw a hand sprayer on it.
This stuff works! I\'m not sure that it totally eliminates your scent, but it deadens it enough to let you get a lot closer to elk for sure. You still want to work the wind but this will help a lot if the wind swirls on you.
