Elk hunting unit 13 New Mexico

Have a few spot picked out in the northern part of the cibola national forest and around the Indian res. in the northern part of the unit. Not asking or looking for anyone's spots but would appreciate some help for a first timer if anyone is offering a little help. I research on google earth and topo maps everyday. Just wondering if anyone has a few helpful hints.

I live right next door. What hunt? I've scouted and did the 2nd mz before.

Sept. 1- sept 10 first archery. Any extra info would help a lot. Done lots of mule deer hunting on public ground in wyoming with success  but never done any elk hunting in any state.

Cibola forest is good area. If you are talking north of Sawtooths, the Criswell,it's great but roads are very bad when it rains. You can get stuck easy.
El Malpais Wilderness and conservation areas is good. Find water, get high,glass. Great spot and stalk country. Roadless so it's a walk.
Heavy monsoons will fill tanks and dry lakes.Started this week,greening up now.

Thanks I will do more research around them areas for water holes and high points. I was looking around the sawtooth ranch were it borders the cibola national national forest
