Elk or deer rubs?

My first thought was deer but I have never seen this many deer rubs in one spot. A saddle was loaded with them. The hat is around 5 1/2 - 6 feet for reference.

No doubt about this one. There was some anger behind this one. See the other half laying on the ground.

Someone told me a few years back that there were 2 types of rubs...velvet rubs and rut rubs. The rut rubs were more aggressive and usually the tree would be destroyed. Any truth to this?

I would guess elk but most of the elk rubs I\'ve seen the tree or bush is a lot more torn up than that tree is.. I\'ve never seen a whitetail rub that tall... Don\'t know much about mule deer but the mule deer I\'ve seen don\'t look like they could rub that tall either...

i\'ve seen mulie rubs fairly tall. no elk in the area.

i hypothesized that the deer was leaning the small sapling over while rubbing.. i could be soo full of it tho. always exciting to find rubs.

no tracks?
