I had the opportunity to go out on the elk refuge at Jackson Hole on Saturday, and it was great ...

For those who haven\'t been there, it\'s a neat place. We were taken out on a horse-drawn sleigh and were near a herd of 600-700 elk ... many well within my effective archery range. It was great to see the different age classes of bulls and cows, and to hear their mews and see the raghorns pushing each other around. I\'ll post some photos.

Here are a few pushing each other around

Here\'s probably the biggest bull we saw. Not a great photo, but he\'s one that very few would pass up.

What a cool opportunity and it looks like you had a great time.

Do you have a picture of the horse drawn sleigh?

Um, nope. Great teams of Belgians, though ... 2000 pounds per horse ... wonderful animals. Pulled about 15-20 people across the snow.

The refuge is a great spot ... There were lots of things that I didn\'t photograph ... like the swans (there were many) and the 30 or so bighorns that we saw. There were rumored to be about 80 on the refuge.

Overall, after driving 380 miles (one way) and back, we saw so many creatures ... pronghorn, mule deer, elk, moose, bighorns ... and great country. Also ran into Harrison Ford, but that\'s another story. Got to cc-ski in Grand Teton National Park on a warm, windless, sunny day.

Good weekend. We honey-mooned there a long time ago. It was dumb ... couldn\'t afford much of anything then, so it was nice to take my wife out to dinner without worrying about affording it.

Tell me about it on the affording thing.....it is why we went to Taco Bell today after church. :)
