Have the elk dropped their antlers yet? This will be my first year shed hunting. Trying to go up in the lucky peak area for some quick day trips but I don't know really where to start. Saw about 30 mulies and 12-15 elk bedded down last weekend. Should I go higher up to see the bulls this time of year? Thanks!

i have been out a coupe of times and have found some that are last years an will be going out again this weekend. i found quite a few during hunting season, Elk and whitetail both. CDA ID

I was up above Lucky Peak and Arrow Rock area this past weekend.  Found a heard of 31 elk.
6 bulls still had their horns.  One of them was a 6x6 and another was a rag horn, the others were spikes.
We found them fairly low, surprised they were still so low but there was nice fresh green grass popping up so I guess that's why.  The hurd bedded down and we waited till they left and found a couple old sheds and several fresh rubs with hair on the tree where they were trying to knock their antlers loose.  I'm pretty sure the big guy dropped his horns in that area while we were there cause when the hurd walked off we didn't see a 6x6 or a rag horn.  We did see what looked like a big boddied bull with no horns.
We searched for 2 hrs close to the rubs and couldn't find the sheds.  I'll be back up there soon.  Happy Shed hunting.
