Elk snacks

It's slowly creeping in on elk season so I figure I start some of the obligatory threads that pop up each year.

I'll start with food because it's my favorite....
What elk snacks are you packing this year on your hunts?

I'm running PB & honey sandwiches with chips inside, apples, bananas, peanut butter pretzels, Swedish fish and sour patch kids.

Those should be able to keep my running through the mountain all day.  :D

my daily food bag includes 2 apples and 2 PB&Honey sandwiches.  I always eat the apples first cause I can toss the core (shed weight) afterwards and bruise more easily.

by the end of the week, I'm usually only carrying 1 sandwich. for some reason, I just dont eat that much on-mountain.

Dan, my elk hunting these days is all tree stands and not more than 30-45 minutes from the truck.  The challenge of packing in or hiking around hunting for elk in CO is a thing of the past for me....at least for now.  I will second or third the apple in the pack plus PB & B with honey on tortillas or bagels.

BUT, I'll still have breakfast biscuits in the morning before walking in then spicy elk or venison snack sticks for the mid morning stomach rumblings.

Brown Sugar Cinnamon frosted pop tarts always in the food box!!

Not elk snacks but for my morning in the old deer stand I have a package of peanut butter and cheese crackers, 2 mini musketeers, 2 Hershey's nuggets, 2 slim jims, a 12 oz sprite and 20 oz water... And if I really get lucky a couple of fresh homemade peanut butter cookies...

Afternoon hunt I have the leftovers...

Even though I LOVE peanut butter and anything sandwiches, I try as much as possible not to add any more strong scents and aromas to myself out in the field. I too am a frosted pop tart fan. I make my own granola mix with pecans, walnuts, almonds and dried fruits. Granola, Lars, and other bars as well. My daughter introduced me to some vegan/gluten free style no-flour cookies that are actually pretty good and great energy. Never thought I would eat any of her veganese stuff, but who knew....

PB&J?s and jerky in pack. Little Debbie snacks in quad. Whatever else I see when I hit the Walmart in Craig before the final sprint to elk camp.

Cashews and peanut m&Ms mix
Tuna kit (diy) relish and miracle whip packs
Cheese and crackers x2
Snickers
Mingua beef jerky

Definitely my go to. I like that I can prep all the days at home

I bring pre-packaged breakfast shakes with protein powder, hot chocolate powder, ground quick oats, hemp seed & chia seed. Just add water.
For lunch I have PB, honey and the "fully cooked" bacon (which keeps really well) on a protein wrap. I found the protein wraps last year at the local grocery store and they are great. I feel like I'm at home with the bacon.
I bring lots of Snickers as well for snacking in between.

anyone have a good DIY way of carrying hard boiled eggs?
I'd use one of those plastic egg carriers and cut it down to two eggs. They're cheap at Wallyworld. Hack one up & get yet egg on. Now that you got me thinking about it that's just what I'm going to do.

I've been seeing ads for a plastic container you put the cracked egg in and boil it.
