I finally got to have the whole family together for supper last night. I marinated some elk steaks supplied by bowhunter (Thanks) and then Sunday afternoon put them on the grill. My old grill was about to fall apart so I improvised and just used the grate, a couple of rocks and some hickory from a tree I cut up. They turned out SO GOOD. There was more meat in the package than I anticpated but no worries I finished it all after my wife and son were done. I\'ll have to say that all of the hype about elk meat had me a little concerned that maybe I or my wife wouldn\'t like it as much as I had built it up. After supper I asked Dee Dee if I actually brought some an elk would she feel a little better about me elk hunting next year. She said yes, it was way better than the stupid deer you kill. She thought it was better than beef and I have to agree with her. That says a lot because both of us were raised up eating fresh beef off the farm.
