Elk stolen out of hunters truck

This weekend I took my son out for his last weekend of the rifle elk hunt, on our way in we noticed a large bull in the back of a truck with horses. We sat up camp and the hunters came out on their horses, while they were gone someone stole the elk out of the back of their truck. I can't believe someone would be so hard up to take someone else's elk.

Some people are just too lazy to go after there own. In a area that I hunted, they tried to take the elk from you while you were still beside it. That was the last time I hunted rifle. Here bowhunters are the total opposite and will help you haul it out.

I seen a post on Facebook this afternoon of someone stealing a bull outa someone's truck as well. Right in front of the restaurant in town.  The nerve and stupidity of some just amazes me , I'd say if you get caught for that you should be charged with illegal possession of wildlife.  Even if you had a tag and stole the antlers and tagged the animal like it's urs then you should get wanton waste for not having any of the meat with it.  Punishment should be harsh of you ever get caught IMO, might sound like a hardass but I hate thieves


If you get meat from the store then dont criticize me for having the courage to go out and kill my own meat

Sad to hear. Crazy how many dishonest people are out in the mountains these. Didn't seem like to many years ago where you could trust most people in the mountains. Perhaps now a days you just hear about more stories through social media.
